Internal Medicine

 

Vishwanath Hande, M.D.

Dr. Hande, M.D., received his medical degree from Madras Medical college in Madras, India with a specialty in Internal Medicine.

After medical school, Dr. Hande served his residencies at Government General Hospital, Madras, India, at Presbyterian Medical Center and Fellowship in Pulmonary Medicine at Temple University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Dr. Hande spent four and a half years in England rotating among several specialities.

Dr. Hande is a Member of the Royal College of Physicians, London, England and is Board Certified in Internal Medicine and Pulmonary Medicine

He has been employed at MHHS since July 1996 and is the Chief of Medical Staff.

Suresh Balasubramony, M.D.

Long Term Care Medical Director

Dr. Suresh Balasubramony, M.D., received his medical degree from the University of Kerala in Trivandrum, India, with a specialty in Medicine & Surgery.

After medical school, Dr. Suresh served his residencies at the University of Trivandrum & University of West Indies. Dr. Suresh was a resident in Internal Medicine at Marshall University, School of Medicine in Huntington, WV. He also served a one year residency in Psychiatry at St. Elizabeth Hospital, Tufts University in Boston. Dr. Suresh is Board Certified in Internal Medicine.

Dr. Suresh has been employed full time at MHHS since November 2002.

      

Douglas M. Bennett, D.O.

Dr. Douglas Bennett, D.O., received his medical degree from the University of Osteopathic Medicine and Health Sciences in Des Moines, Iowa, with a specialty in Internal Medicine.

After medical school, Dr. Bennett served his residencies at
Henry Ford Hospital / Bi-County Hospital in Detroit, Michigan.

Dr. Bennett has been employed at MHHS since July 2000 and presently sees patients two days a month. Watch for dates in the Hur Herald.

       

 

Gregory Mims II, MD

Gregory Mims, MD II is Board Certified in Family Medicine and is employed by the U.S. Public Health Service, Health Resources and Services Administration, Bureau of Health Professions, National Health Service Corps, Effectiveness and Preparedness Unit.

Dr. Mims is working in our Glenville Office as full time Family Practice Physician and is a Ready Responder.

Catherine Grant, M.D.

Dr. Catherine E. Grant.  Dr. Grant began her  medical career as a Registered Nurse.  In 1986, she received her Medical Degree from Albert Einstein College of Medicine in Bronx, New York. She practiced at Minnie Hamilton from 1987 to 1990.  In 1992, Dr. Grant received her certification by the American Board of Family Practice, later adding a certification in Geriatric Medicine.  In 1992, Dr. Grant joined a private practice in Weston, WV with privileges at Stonewall Jackson Memorial Hospital.  She has served as the attending physician at Crestview and SunBridge Nursing homes.  Dr. Grant is the widow of the late Tolley Fitzwater.  She enjoys travel, a new sport for her, kayaking, her cats and family.

 

 


Juanito Aya-Ay, M.D.

Dr. Aya-Ay completed his residency in Internal Medicine in 1972 at St. John’s Episcopal Hospital in Brooklyn, New York.

Over the years, Dr. Aya-Ay, wife Cora and children Gina, Paul, Jerome, James and Jay have called Calhoun County home. Dr. Aya-Ay has held a medical practice in Grantsville since 1972. In January 2003, he sold his medical practice to MHHS and now is a member of the facility Medical Staff & works one day a week.

 


Emergency Medicine

 

Rudolph Kevak, Jr., M.D.

Emergency Room Medical Director

Dr. Rudolph Kevak, Jr., M.D., received his medical degree from CIFAS University, Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, with a specialty in Internal/Emergency Medicine.

Dr. Kevak has worked in the Emergency Department and Clinic at MHHS since April 1999, and is currently the Director of the Emergency Department.

Dr. Kevak is also the Medical Director of EMS in Gilmer County.

Todd Lares, MD

Glenville Office Medical Director

Dr. Lares was born in Charleston, West Virginia where he graduated from Charleston High School. Attending Marshall University he attained an MD Degree from the Marshall University School of Medicine. He served a Surgical Internship at Marshall University and a Radiology Residency at the University of Tennessee. Lares has over ten years experience as a General Practitioner with primary interest in Acute Care and Emergency Medicine.

Dr. Lares works as Medical Director at the Gilmer Office.

Alfonso Cinco, M.D.

Dr. Alfonso Cinco received his Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Santo Thomas, Manila, Philippines and completed his Internal Medicine residency at Jersey Shore Medical Center, Neptune, New Jersey.

Before coming to MHHS he  was employed by St. Francis and Putnam General Hospitals.  Dr. Cinco is a member of the American College of Physicians and the West Virginia Medical Association.

Dr. Cinco has employed at MHHS since May 1999 and is a Emergency Room provider.

Anwar Abdeen, MD

Dr. Abdeen received his medical degree from the America University of Beirut (AUB).  He obtained a BS in Biology in 1986.  He received his MD in 1991 from St. Barnabas Hospital in New York.  While at AUB, Dr. Abdeen was on the Deans Honor List.

Dr. Abdeen is married to Rasha Hamsho and has two sons, Yahyo and Somi Abdeen.  In his free time, he enjoys meditation, swimming and helping people. 

Dr. Abdeen works in the Emergency Room Department at MHHS.

 

John Harrah, M.D.

Minnie Hamilton Health System is pleased to announce the addition of a new doctor to the Emergency Room staff.  Dr. John Harrah began his career at Marshall University where he received his medical degree.    He completed an Emergency Room residency at Maine Medical Center in Portland, Maine in 2004 and is Certified by the American Board of Emergency Medicine.  In 2008, he completed an Undersea Hyperbolic Fellowship at Duke University.  Dr. Harrah is a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society.  In his free time, he enjoys hunting, fishing and exercising.

 

Pediatrics

 

Therese Linnon, DO

Dr. Therese Linnon, DO is a 2002 graduate from Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. She completed her Osteopathic Internship in 2003 at Mercy Hospital of Pittsbourgh. In 2006 Dr. Linnon completed Pediatric Residency at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center.

Dr. Linnon began September 6th, 2007 working Monday, Wednesday thru Friday in the Glenville Office and Tuesdays at Grantsville Operations, Annex Clinic.

Dentistry

 

Lynn Gilbert, D.D.S.

Dr. Lynn Gilbert, D.D.S., received her dental degree from the University of Tennessee, College of Denistry in Memphis, TN.


Lynn most recently has been employeed as Chief Dental Officer at the Federal Correctional Institution in Glenville and previously had a private practice in Grantsville.


She has been employed at MHHS Since September 2004 and sees patients one day a week..

Jeremiah Shelton, D.D.S.

Minnie Hamilton Health Care welcomes Jeremiah Shelton to the MHHS medical staff. Dr. Shelton graduated from Elkins High School in 1998 and went on the receive a Bachelors of Science degree in Biology from WV Weselyn College in Buckhannon, WV and then his Doctorate in dental surgery from West Virginia University.

Jeremiah states "I love working in rural communities where you get to know your patients and their families on a more personal level.

He has been employed at MHHS since June, 2006.

Family Nurse Practitioner

 

Teresa Ritchie, C-FNP

Teresa Ritchie, APRN (Advanced Practice Registered Nurse) received her Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees from West Virginia University. She has 25 years of nursing experience in home health, obstetrics, and emergency medicine.

She has practiced as a Family Nurse Practitioner at MHHS since May 2001 and sees patients in the Annex Clinic.

Linda McPherson, C-FNP

Linda McPherson, C-FNP is from Weston, WV.  She received her Bachelor of Science degree from  West Virginia Wesleyan College and her Family Nurse Practitioner degree from West Virginia University.

She has practiced as a Family Nurse Practitioner at MHHS since August 2001 and is currently seeing patients at the Glenville Office.

Junemarie Williams, C-FNP

Junemarie Williams received her Nursing BSN degree from Alderson Broaddus College and Nursing MSN from Wheeling Jesuit University.

Junemarie has worked in several medical settings including Mountain Hospice Inc., in Belington,WV, VA Hospital, United Hospital Center in Clarksburg, WV and Broaddus Hospital in Philippi, WV.  She also served ten years in the U.S. Navy with tours of duty in Alaska, Hawaii, Virginia and California.

Junemarie sees patients at the Minnie Hamilton Health System, Glenville Office.

She has been employed at MHHS in February, 2006.

Physician Assistant

 

Urlin Mathews, PA-C

Urlin Mathews, PA-C, received his Physician Assistant degree from the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska.  Mr. Mathews has extensive training through the U.S. Army and received an Army commendation for exceptional service for providing service at a plane crash at Pope Air Force Base in North Carolina.

Urlin is a member of the Society of Army Physician Assistants and a member of Veteran of Foreign Wars.


He has been employed at MHHS since October 2005.

Michelle Taylor, PA-C

Michelle Taylor, PA-C received her Master of Science degree in Physician Assistant Studies from Marietta College and her Bachelor of Art Degree from University of Missouri.

Michelle has been employed at MHHS since September 2006 and sees patients in the Annex Clinic.
